The female correspondent for Press TV in Turkey was killed in a car accident on the Turkish- Syrian border. She was returning from an assignment in Suruç, a rural district of Şanlıurfa Province of Turkey when her car collided with a truck.

Ms Shim, a US national of Lebanese origin and mother of two who covered conflicts for Press TV in Lebanon, Iraq and Ukraine, was covering the fighting in Kobane, a city near the Turkish border. In a statement, Press TV said that Serena Shim had told the channel that the "Turkish intelligence agency had accused her of spying probably due to some of the stories she had covered about Turkey’s stance on the ISIL terrorists in Kobani and its surroundings, adding that she feared being arrested."
